About

In 2019, the founder started a long journey of working to combine her passion and desire to step in the gap for underserved children and families in her community. While supporting families as a Licensed Social Worker, there was always a concern for children and families having their basic human needs met so that they could concentrate on the tasks of everyday functioning. The process of helping began with gathering likeminded team members, researching data, brainstorming, collaborating with community stakeholders, meetings with a legal team, etc.

In March 2020, the journey of getting Naomi's Family off the ground was halted as the country was literally stopped in it's tracks by a virus that we now know as COVID-19. In the midst of such uncertainty and confusion, many people experienced unexpected hardship like they had never seen before which only strengthened the team to keep pressing forward. While working with children and families during the height of the pandemic, it was evident that many of the existing support systems that people depended on were now overwhelmed by the demand that was created by the country shutting down. Many of the community stakeholders that were contacted were either not able to help in that moment due to long waiting lists or had no more resources available.

As the team continued to have meetings to discuss the mission, vision, purpose, needs of the community and scope, Naomi's Family was finally born. In June 2020, Naomi's Family was incorporated and subsequently recognized by the federal government Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in July 2021. Within a couple of months, Naomi's Family supported it's first family who was experiencing extreme financial hardship by providing much needed baby items (pampers, wipes, bottles, baby food and a pack-n-play for a temporary sleeping solution).
